Girls Weekend Getaway at the Legendary The Kahala Hotel & Resort

“Throughout the years, The Kahala Hotel & Resort has hosted 20th century icons such as John Wayne, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Jack Lemmon, musical legends such as The Who, The Rolling Stones and Stevie Wonder, dignitaries including Queen Elizabeth, Emperor and Empress of Japan and modern day A-listers such as Angelina Jolie, Nicolas Cage, Sean Penn, Drew Barrymore and Michelle Pfeiffer. Every U.S. president from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush to Barrack Obama has stayed at the resort".”

Inspired by the great homes of the Hawaiian monarchy, with its elegant and grand residential feel, the hotel was originally designed by architects Edward Killingsworth, Jules Brady and Waugh Smith of Long Beach, California. Many of the staff have been working at The Kahala Hotel & Resort for over 20 years and recognize and address returning guests by name.” - The Kahala Hotel & Resort

Today, I am sharing the ultimate girls getaway weekend with my best friend Danica at this legendary property.

(to receive special perks and amenities when booking through TravelChic World, read through the entire blog).

This luxury resort features 4 restaurants and a full-service spa, and is located about 10-15 minutes away from famous Waikiki Beach. The Kahala Hotel & Resort sits on a secluded beach in one of Oahu's most upscale residential neighborhoods. This luxurious property is a hidden gem.

Day One

We checked in with Preston at the front desk, who greeted us with leis. Our friend Lara tagged along with us for the day. Preston remembered us by name throughout our entire stay. Thank you Preston!

We checked into our gorgeous Beach Front Lanai room which is located steps away from their beautiful, secluded beach. This gorgeous room reminded me of being in Tahiti or Bali, in a bungalow hideaway. There are only six of these available on property and each of these six come with your own private beach chairs and umbrella. The pool staff will also come and lay towels for you.

After settling in and pinching ourselves on how lucky we were to be in this room with dual marble sinks and two-dressing areas, tub and shower, we decided to have a beach/pool day. What I love about this property are the little added touches like water being accessible to cool yourself from the Hawaiian sun and hand sanitizer stations located around the beach area and pool area.

We ordered food from the Seaside Grill and got some fun delicious mixed drinks! Mahalo to Winnie and Corey who gave us excellent service! We saw Winnie and Corey several times during our stay and they both remembered us every-time! It’s these little things, that made us, as their guests, feel extra special.

Time for dinner at Arancino at the Kahala, known as one of the best Italian restaurants in Hawaii!

Night cap! We ended the night at the The Veranda. “Whether under our beautiful iconic chandelier from the high ceiling in open-air seating or with the magical twilight ocean view from the lanai, unwind and relax at The Veranda with Hawaiian breezes and live music while enjoying hors d’ oeuvres, craft cocktails and wide selections of wine, sake and more.” - The Kahala Hotel & Resort

Preston, our guest service agent who checked us in, suggested we visit here and have one of their famous maitais while being serenaded by their local singer and pianist, Janet. Every Saturday they have live performances from local artists. Be sure to make reservations. Mahalo to Joey and Cenisalisa for the excellent service.

After returning to our room, our beds were turned down with little chocolate candies and then we were presented with a beautiful fruit platter with chocolate macadamia nuts, The signature Kahala cooler bag and insulated cups. Not too shabby to end the night.

day two

After a beautiful first day and night, we woke up hungry for more. So what is better than a Sunday Teihoku Brunch at Hoku’s with our friend Elena!

This Sunday Teihoku Brunch was amazing! Be sure to make reservations, as availability can be limited. You can see why from the below photos. Hoku’s, also, sits directly on the ocean, so the views are stunning. Mahalo to Elena and Tony.

Now, would I be your preferred travel advisor if I did not show you a sneak peak of their beautiful, prestigious Presidential Suite? This 2,200 square feet (204 square meters) suite, has two-bedrooms and everything in here reflects the finest in sophisticated style with an emphasis on luxury living. The second bedroom has a hidden doorway. “Every U.S. president from Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush to Barrack Obama and Princess Diana, has stayed in this suite”. - The Kahala Hotel & Resort

Special Mahalo to Elena for the room and suite tours!

After viewing the beautiful rooms and suites, Danica and I took a walk to see the dolphins. There are six male dolphins who have been born and raised at The Kahala Hotel & Resort. They call their living quarters the “Bachelor Pad”.

We then ended the day with a beautiful, beach front dinner at The Plumeria Beach House. We also got to catch the gorgeous sunset!

extras at the resort
